Around 4 crore people will be without cell phones by the end of May if Lockdown continues...



The total number of corona infected patients in the country has reached around 24,500 on Saturday morning, with 775 deaths have taken place because of the deadly virus.



The centre has extended the lockdown until 3rd May to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19. In a new survey that took place says that, if the restrictions related to lockdown are not lifted, then due to breakdown or malfunction of mobiles, about 4 crore people will be without mobile phones by the end of this May.  The mobile industry organization claimed it in its report on Friday. The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) has estimated that currently, more than 25 million mobile phones are either dead or not in proper working condition because of the mobile phone repair are closed due to lockdown. The ICEA chairman said that he has approached regarding this issue to the government, including PM Narendra Modi, to bring mobile phones service centres or repair shops under the preview of essential goods and services.



He also said that if the lockdown continues even after 3rd May then by the end of May this number is estimated to reach 4 crores. He said online mobile phone sale should be started in the country, while the service centres should also be given permission to open in a proper phased manner. The Telecom industry, Internet service, broadcasting and IT services are given permission but not the sales of mobile phone.
